Take a look at the banking on the old circuit at Monza - it's a lot steeper in real life than it looks in the pictures too!
It's not used these days but when it was, back in the 1920s to 1940s and 50s I think, the cars still got up to speeds of at least 120mph. Imagine going around the banking at that speed with no proper crash helmet and a car that would break up into sharp bits of wood and metal the moment you hit anything - sounds like good fun!
